I'm active enlisted and I ETS in 11 months.
Is there a way I can go to reserve OCS as an 09S candidate when I ETS from active? I have a bachelor's degree and should have my masters by the time I ETS too.

One of your out-processing requirements is a meeting with the Reserve Components Career Counselor.
Tell them where you are moving to, and that you would like an 09S contract.

National Guard or army reserve units do make announcements concerning concerning OCS. You always see OCS posters in large armories. My particular case was unique. I had just finished basic training one station unit training for military police and my unit didn't announce any OCS to us. Luckily, I was on American online back in the 1990s and 1 of the ocs instructors for the California Army National Guard Gave me the phone number to the state OCS schoolhouse and I was able to have orders cut for a symposium. I wanted to suppose him and I was selected.. I was transferred from my namy National Guard military police company company to the state OCS. I'm sure something similar will Happen. Remember, National Guard has does your combat units and army reserve have your combat service support and combat support. Special units like special forces are in the National Guard and units like syop and civil affairs are in the army reserve. Logistics and military police are in both The army reserve and National Guard.

Why would you need an 09S enlistment, you are already MOS qualified? Just join the Reserves and drop a packet for OCS. O9S is kind of a Zero MOS for IET OCS candidates in BCT. You don't need it.

The 09S contract as an initial contract puts you directly into OCS.
Joining the Guard or Reserves in your MOS, then applying for OCS takes another 6-12 months to get that second contract complete.
Either way, once you are contracted to OCS, whether you have an MOS or not, your PMOS gets coded as 09S.

SGM Jeff Mccloud - The application process still goes through the same board, unless you are National Guard, that meets quarterly. Those packets are usually due 60 days before the board meets, so it's still a matter of either waiting in the DEP or just enlisting with the realization that it could be 180+ before you get a school date. I can understand choosing that option as an IET, you can skip that MOS school. For PS, I just don't see an advantage for the soldier.

Everyone here already explained it pretty well. Just some points to remember: You will commission into the Reserves and not back into Active Duty. You will also need to meet the requirements of US Citizen, 110 GT, and Secret Clearance in order to be qualified for a 09S contract.

AFAIK, OCS puts out Reserve Officers in the AUS, same same ROTC. Ring bangers would have a cow if 90 days wonders came out with a USA commission.
