So I joined the navy and realized it wasn’t the right branch for me and I got a re4 jfv condition not a disability pretty much was diagnosed with adjustment disorder. I’m now planning on joining the national guard I’ve never had any mental health issues or anything of the sort and went to get a psych profile that cleared me of every diagnosis that says I’m fit for military service. I guess my question is what are the chances of the waiver being approved? I know the national guard does things a little different and they look at the whole person concept since leaving the navy I’ve been going to college and going to the police academy to be a police officer . Also I should say that I know the national guard waives re4 codes if the army would consider a re3 which adjustment disorder they do .

The Army will not take you with an RE4. No waiver will be granted. The only way it can be upgraded, if memory serves, is that you have to request an upgrade to RE3 if the RE4 was incorrectly given to you. If the RE4 was correctly given, then you don't have a dog in this hunt. But the only way to know for sure is to go speak with a National Guard recruiter. They're the SMEs.

This doesn't answer your question but why not finish out your navy contract then enlist in another branch? I understand its too late for you but many others will have this same question and I always wonder. Its always easier to rejoin when you leave the military the "right" way. I mean no offense but I'm curious.

No worries! I wanted to join the army to begin with but my recruiter wasn’t very good at the navy recruiter was able to ship me off ASAP so I went with it . It was definitely a foolish decision but that’s done and done . I would much rather leave during bootcamp then graduate do something I dislike for 4 years and waste the navy’s time and my time .
