After updating volunteer preferences, how do I become a Drill Sergeant (I am asking for my SGT)?

Interesting to see a SPC do something for a SGTs career track that the SGT should be doing for themselves.

There are a few problems with this question that concerns me. The most important of which is why is this young sergeants subordinate doing this research. This is not good business and in my opinion is not a trait that I would desire from a fellow drill sergeant. However that is not my decision to make. Unless they have changed it you must now be a promotable sergeant to become a drill sergeant. Tell your leader that she can contact the drill sergeant branch manager or ask her squad leader or platoon sergeant for information. Here is the drill sergeant web page.

If she volunteered and didn't get picked up something is there that they don't like. They want female drill sergeants like crazy. Maybe they are waiting for her to have more rated time. Who knows.

Reclass to a combat arms job. That will get her there!!!!!!!

All I did was call my branch manager and request that he releases my records. I never even submitted a packet because I had decided that maybe I would just reclass instead. Long story short, I attend Drill Sergeant School in January.

Putting in a packet is the best way to volunteer, it shows that she's not just sitting and waiting but being proactive like she really wants that slot.. plus she gets a better chance to not get picked up for the other duties like Recruiter.. just saying

Your CSM, 1SG, reenlistment NCO or someone of that level could call your branch.

He needs to call his branch and tell them he wants Drill. If he qualifies, then he will have orders

Contact Branch. Submit DA 4187s requesting DS.

If she wants it, she needs to fight for it. Does she meet all of the requirements?
