If I were to take an assignment to Korea for one year, when could I start the process for my next assignment? Answers from individuals who have spent time in Korea recently is greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much

While I haven't spent time in Korea, I can tell you that for OCONUS soldiers, Recruiting and Drill branch like to have your packets about one year from DEROS. Seven months from DEROS you're tagged for assignment, and six months from DEROS you're placed on AI, so your packet has to be submitted, received, reviewed, and accepted long before that.

Thank you very much for this information. I'll keep this in mind when I start the process for my next assignment.

I have been retired a while. I would expect your 1SG to have this answer.

Do you contact your Branch Manager? Some MOSs do.

SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint I can contact my branch manager. however, I do not believe this is a question I would contact them for. That is why I am hoping to get some information on here from someone with recent experience.
