I have had a couple of my troops ask about crossing over from the Air Force to the Army to pursue becoming a Warrant Officer.
Any advise, tips, tricks, etc for this process? Is it hard? Is it recommended?

I served with a guy at Fort Rucker in the mid-1980s who had spent a number of years in the Air Force. At the time I knew him he was a CW4 (and I cannot remember his name anymore dangit) which meant he had spent quite some time in the Army to get to where he was then. He was not an Aviator, either, and so he was a long way from being considered in the "high school to flight school" category. When I asked him why he switched to the Army after spending a number of years in the Air Force, his reply was really quite poignant and left me at a loss for words. His reply was, "Because I got fed up with being an E-6(P) in the Air Force."

I have met many Warrant Officers that started out in the Air Force. Everything they need to know is easily found at the Warrant Officer Recruiting website. Finding a Warrant to have a face to face conversation about life as a Warrant is recommended, but if your troops are not near an Army base, there are plenty of us here that would do it by phone.

CW5 (Join to see). That you for the reply. I have always referred them to the Recruiting website as a first course of action. Afterwards, I generally get a "what is the process "really" like" and "how hard is the process", etc. Our limited education offices have a pretty good grip on the OCS/OTS process but give a blank stare when you ask about Warrants.

Three of my junior Warrant Officer Aviator contemporaries switched over from the Army to the Air Force. Two of them were permitted to get flying positions...one got into F-111s and the other into C-141s. The third guy could not get a flying position but made the switch in spite of it.

I want to know if this could be possible but on the guard side. Air national guard enlisted to army national guard warrant officer. Has anyone ever experienced this or know someone who has?

10 years active AF...2 years active AF Guard...WO packet approved...interservice transfer to Army Guard while waiting for a school slot to open up. E6 with a bachelor degree and critical MOS...so it was easy for me.
