Since I arrived at my new duty station, I have heard several SMs discussing the new PT uniform. Some of these discussions have been in passing, and I did not even know them. But I am surprised that the vast majority are against the new look. What are your thoughts?

I like the new uniform but Ive had a very difficult time trying to buy all of the pieces. It took me 5 months to get the shorts. Everyone that I talk to says that they would wear it if they could buy everything they need for it.

Doesn't matter either way for us Navy folk. At least you guys have had some nice PT gear. We are still stuck with the old sweats uniform as warm up pieces. Though I have heard we might be getting something in the near future. It is kinda funny that you have a Glow belt with a uniform that already has reflective material attached. Go figure!

I love how it already has two reflector belts already built into the design. The people in the photo are overdoing it.

I look at it this way. The Army is going to do whatever they want to do, regardless of what the majority of us think. I'm not a fan of the new look, but at the same time I wasn't exactly enthusiastic about the old ones either. All we can do is wait it out and see what happens with it.

i just want to poke fun at the picture (no butt hurt comments)

are these soldiers warming up their levitation skills, theyre about to take off and the solider at the far end is definitely floating!

im assuming that the stripes sewn onto the jacket is reflective, if so, when will that ugly cross body reflective belt situation end for you guys?

I think it looks stupid as hell with the glow belt and the fact that most units do PT at or around 0630 and the freaking uniform in black so thus blends in, in a low light environment.

I think many individuals that don't want to embrace the change seems to stem from the same two reasons. The more important if the two reasons is cost, while many individuals coming in to the service will get these at initial issue, most will have to procure them with their own funds. And the second reason is that the seasoned individuals will see a surplus store in their home. As for my personal views, you are supposed to be an professional at all times a grand part of this is looking and acting the part. The Army wants uniformity and these new uniforms do that with our branch colors (sans the green) logo placement is on all portions of the new uniform to distinguish espre de corps. I am however against the fact that the yellow stripe (as of now) is not reflective) it may be bright but the should have taken from the last gen III uniforms to make it reflective as we still look fairly ridiculous wearing it during winter months, I understand that we have them for quick "on the spot changes" invade a commander decides to downgrade pending weather changes. As for cost I see many individuals forget that they recieve a yearly payment for uniforms (many use it for personal funds). They have given two years for individuals to acquire these uniforms, with the funding that is more than enough time if you use your funds appropriately. We must all remember the soldiers creed "I am an expert and a PROFESSIONAL." as well as for our NCOs "NO ONE is more PROFESSIONAL than I." We are professionals in the form of combat arms and need to look and more importantly always act the part at all times as well as give that example in our actions, look, and responsibilities to our new soldiers coming in.

What's with the redundancy? The material on the shoulder is already reflective and they're wearing a freaking belt across the shoulder. Who was the great idea fairy behind that decision? LOL I don't think the Navy has the best PT uniform either; but the shirt is gold and the print is retroreflective, plenty of visibility on that uniform.

Better fit, better material, better look. The only thing I don't agree with is that we can't dx the old ones for the new ones.
