I know all AMC flights to Misawa, Japan depart from SeaTac (Seattle) and assume they are the responsibility of the 62nd AW. The rule is that there are no postings of the schedule until 72 hours prior to flying (and rightly so), but what is the best time of month to travel to Seattle to start the waiting process? I understand that there are essentially 2 waves of planned travel per month. I assume end of month is dedicated to active duty. I've reached out to a few members but no contact as of yet. Any help is greatly appreciated. V/R, Uncle Mark

As a long-time AMC crewmember, I'd recommend hopping to Yokota if there isn't an easy access contract flight direct to Misawa. Yokota is the major Japan-CONUS hub (daily flights to-from west coast bases) and it has far more Space-A opportunities to Misawa than from CONUS. You've always got ground options once in Japan failing space-a. The bigger issue is the return trip. I'm betting the odds of getting space in both directions would be slim CONUS-Misawa.
Just my experience interacting with the Space-A hobos as a crewmember--your results may vary.

SFC Mark Merino Here is alink to the SEATAC AMC facebook page. They have some trends for the time of year it is the busiest and how many seats are usually availible. When i was in Korea and my wife was going to catch a space-a to visit me I monitered this facebook page and it helped me judge when.

1SG (Join to see) Appreciate it, brother. It is amazing how many SM's don't know about dependents flying unaccompanied. We have sme serious bennies that often go unused.

Hey! I didn't know they changed it to a 7 day notice now! That is VERY helpful. Never assume that our intel is current. I've been lying to SM's for who knows how long...lol.

We couldn't take the chance of Hitomi not getting back to Misawa for her May deadline so we will have to postpone my first visit to Honshu. The best deal we could find (kincluding insurance) was still $915 round trip. If you aren't flying AMC, especially during your active duty years, you aremissing out on a MASSIVE benefit. Take your family on vacation! God speed.
