Are you a licensed ham? If so, what got you interested in the hobby? What types of activities do you participate in or would you like to participate in regarding amateur radio?

If you want to continue to serve the military using your radio as a civilian, you may want to check out MARS: http://www.netcom.army.mil/mars/
MARS stands for Military Auxiliary Radio System. We are headquartered at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, and assigned to the Headquarters, United States Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM).

I spent a good number of months over a period of 24 years in the Florida Army NG and one year of that time in North Carolina's Army NG on hurricane duty. Now that I am retired I continue to serve my county and the state of Florida maintaining my amateur radio skills in the event of a natural disaster.

I've always been interested in electronics and radios. I really wish that I could find the crystal and shortwave radios I had built as a kid. Time passed, and it all fell to the wayside. Lately, I have had a renewed interest, so finally got my license. As a Signal Soldier, I feel that the opportunity to learn more about radios will help me professionally, and am actually quite surprised at the very small amount of hams in uniform!

My local club, North Okaloosa Amateur Radio Club, recently held a Technician-General license course on a nearby installation. We held the exam at the end and licensed 18 with 3 upgrades to General.
