I have a collection of Mosin's, M91/30, M44, M39 Finn, M39 Finn (post war) SNEK, all are in 7.62x54R. So recently I had been debating the idea of a semi auto, there are a lot out there, but I wanted something different, and I wanted it to be compatible with what I shoot in the Mosin's. So not finding one locally, I broke down and bought one online from a vendor I had previous experience with. I had barrel length options between 20, 23, and 27 inches. I went with the 23, personal preference. 54R tends to shoot fireballs on short barrels. It should be in a week, and then the 10 day California wait. So does anyone else own a VEPR, SAIGA, or other Eastern Bloc 54R or 308? How do you like it? What have you done to it?

Not with the 7.62X54R but I did buy a lightly used (I'd guess 300-1,000 rounds) 7.62X39 and love it. Excellent quality and accuracy for the price. I didn't like the stock as it was too long for me so I bought an adjustable one and some 30rd mags.

I have the opposite problem with Eastern block rifles, too short. I always find a rubber block of some kind, then a slip on pad. Gives me an extra couple of inches. Not pretty but it works.

6'2, my shirt size is a 17 1/2 neck, with 34/35 inch sleeves. Makes it hard for me to get on a short stock rifle some times. I wish the M4 would add a couple extra notches not he stock for taller people not wearing body armor when shooting.

I recognize that picture. Aim Surplus is an amazing dealer. I got a Century ARMS RAS-47 from them and it is great.
