Hello RallyPoint Durham members!
My name is Roy Blumenfeld and I work with Habitat for Humanity of Durham's Family Services department. We are trying to increase our interactions with the city's veteran community. As part of our efforts to increase awareness about the different services we provide as well as the different opportunities we offer for others to serve with us, I'd like to extend an invitation to an event we will be holding on March 19, 2016.
Our first Veteran Volunteer Day was a success. On January 30th, 2016 had 30 veterans/active duty/reservists/ROTC on site. Following a complimentary lunch provided by Mellow Mushroom Pizza and a brief talk about Habitat, everyone took part in an afternoon of building. The future homeowner of the build site, Dan, is a combat vet. It was truly a humbling experience to see so many fellow vets out at the build site working together with Dan as he works on the sweat equity portion of his home ownership requirements.
The March 19th event will be very similar. Things will start off with a lunch at 11:45 that will be provided. During the meal Habitat Durham staff will be on hand to offer information about what we do and answer any questions. Following the lunch the volunteer shift at the site will begin. No construction experience is required! The event ends at 3:30. Address may be 2734 Owen St. or 2514 Ashe St. Decision will be made closer to the event.

For more information about the event or what Habitat Durham does please contact me. I can be reached by message on this site, by email at [login to see] , or by phone M-F between 9-5 at [login to see] x120.
Additionally, our website DurhamHabitat.org, is an excellent source of information. Thank you for your time. Lets help build homes, hope, and community in Durham together!
