It is a good investment in your kids. They will always value having good straight teeth. It can get pricey but not compared to a college education. Find an orthodontist that has been in practice for while and that give you an all in price for the program. Got to more than one to ensure you are hearing the same things about your kids teeth, what it will take to fix, payment programs if you need them with no interest.

Some private dental plans give you some money (usually $1000-$1500) toward ortho work. That can deaden the cost pain.

Find a good orthodontist who is in it for the long run -- My son just got his braces off from a three-year treatment plan; it was just under ten-years...DOH! After the three years, the specialist ate the costs until the end.
