I’ve been an 11B for 5 years now and I have a plan for going to a unit that allots more than enough time for you to spend with families. I unfortunately haven’t gotten a deployment yet and would like to do that before my official departure from Service. Been thinking about going NG but I’m not fully prepared to actually make that decision. I still roughly have a year left and I’m trying to meet my obligation so that when I do get out, I’ve fully completed my mission. Any tips on how to go about this the right way and still maintain my integrity as a soldier?

All MOSs deploy. They all go to the field. When you're out there in the field, mechanics are out there fixing your vehicles, cooks and supply are bringing your bullets and making your food. Medics are on the line with you. Everybody works, everybody goes to the field, everybody deploys. Even recruiters are away from their families for the day. I'm not sure what you meant by maintaining your integrity as a Soldier. That leads me to believe that you are under the impression you're only a soldier if you deploy. If that's you're thinking then you need to PCS to an 18th Airborne Corps unit and knock out your deployment or you're going to feel like this the rest of your civilian life. Guys who talk like that get out and spend the next five years trying to get back in.

PFC Jeffrey Herrington lol not RE3, but the Army isn't always welcoming to prior service. I've got buddies who ETSed honorably and spent 6 months to a year trying to get back in even when the Army is taking prior service. When they started to draw down around 2012-2014, they weren't taking any PS unless you were airborne.

All Soldiers deploy and train for deployment. I assure you there is no Family friendly MOS per day. The responsibility of keeping evil off our shoreline falls on the military by going to the sound of the drum and defeating the enemy on foreign soil. Family friendly is a family unitvthat understands the sacrifice and why. It is not a negative thing if the Family unit is not on board-that is when a service member decides they no longer have the desire to Serve. No harm no foul. There is no Family friendly MOS, only Family units that understand. Thank you for your service.

You need to decide what you want to do if you get out in a year. What career do you want and do you have the required skills and training? You want to deploy (Be away from family) and also spend more time with your family, so you are not making sense.
