Up at Fort Drum we were issued white cold weather boots we referred to as "Mickey Mouse" boots. The boots had an air valve to depressurize while in the air and whatnot. A private was complaining about his feet being cold so I told him to go ask the squad leader for the "boot pump." The squad leader ended up going to the platoon sergeant who finally explained to the squad leader, and the private, the reasoning behind the air valve.

well we took a new ROTC officer from BYU out it west desert in Utah that want us to do compass course at night. So we went and left him along out there alone.
