Have you ever found yourself on mail buoy watch?
Ever been handed a kapok life vest and broom and told to fend off any monkeys that try to board during a Suez Canal transit?
How about being sent after the elusive ID10T that the chief needs right away?
I'd like to hear some of the other service gags run on the new guy. Let's hear em please!

One of our SrA that was always busy somewhere other than his desk and was the Vehicle Control Officer once received a Memo through mail with a roll of black duct tape and trash bags. The memo explained how the budget cuts has pushed emission testing of gov vehicles down to the VCO and even came with a chart that measured the emissions based off of the bleed down time of the included collection apparatus. After a few weeks of it sitting in his cube he was about to go do it as the commander was loading his GOV up for a trip. Luckily we saw this and stopped him. As much as we wanted to let him go out infront of the 3star and duct tape a trash bag to a tailpipe we prevented this fun to prevent anyone getting reprimanded!

No, but I found the PRC E7 and I didn't like what I found....a bucket of sweat ensued...thanks for the kind 'boot' reminder.

Well several I've heard (never fell for my dad warned me ahead of time to be careful of these things:
You need to take your mattress to so-so to have it stamped.
Did you fill your seabag with water to check for water tight integrity?
You need to microwave your glow belt in order to charge it.
Go to the boat locker and ask for a boatswains punch.
Go stand snow watch.
Run and get so many feet of gig line.
We need sound powered phone batteries.

You can always send them to the motor pool, maybe they keep it next to the clear trash bag that is used to gather exhaust samples

We also did this at McDonald's when I was kitchen manager, if an order came up as "no sauce" we would panic and tell the new guy to get the no sauce from the stock room. Once or twice I had to go get them to bring them back to the kitchen.

Chem light batteries and left handed Cresent wrenches were what we sent turtles hunting for when I was stationed at Camp Kyle, Korea
