Anybody remember the run dodge and jump on the army pt test
We also did monkey bars (I'm sure they were called something other than monkey bars). Anybody remember that? Other parts of the five-event Army PT test of old?

Running in boots became a major problem. I got a stress fracture and was treated at Fort Jackson in 1979. The physician said they were experiencing a huge number of stress fractures at Fort Jackson because the black boot had zero support for your weight. It was definitely not designed for running!

By the way, the physician was the brother of Dallas Cowboy safety Charlie Waters.

Oh Yeah! Our 1967 PT test standards also included a 1-mile run, Low Crawl, Horizontal Ladder, pull ups, and grenade toss.

Yes, and it was all done in full uniform (spare the blouse) and with combat boots on. So many people had foot injuries like tendonitis, sores, and blisters. Running in Nike's is a lot easier on the feet and legs. But remember the idea was to do PT like you were in combat then. Also remember the two man ammo box run through the forest at Ft. Knox. Lots and lots of fun.

Yep. I remember! It was the horizontal ladder! We also did something like the crab walk.
