I tried to do this a while back and it did not go well. Paperwork was easy enough then they gave me where I was going. It was back to the base in which i got out of active duty because of. Then because I was out of active duty for more than 4 years they were taking a stripe I had earned while on active duty. So I canceled that transfer and I thought that would be the end, boy was I wrong. Little time after that I tried to transfer from my reserve unit to the guard and could not because the reserves did not own me. ( funny thing is they were paying me). So the guard could not pick me up. So I went to join a reserve unit instead and they could not do anything either. I had to go my congressman to get the matter straightened out and they say the rest is history.

So with that said hopefully if you decide to transfer your move will not be as eventful.

Thanks for the response, I did 7+ years active duty then transferred to the reserves(no break in service). I would apply now but I got a TDY coming up in a few months so ill officially start that process once I get back stateside. For me, I miss the daily challenge of active duty, the people, etc. Thanks for your service.

TSgt (Join to see) - I would ask the question I have heard others loose a stripe after X years out of active duty and in the reserves. Good luck if you do change back..
