Anyone else in zone for the FY15 Staff Sergeant Selection Board?

My son is still waiting for his E-8 promotion. He is 18 months from retirement and is willing to reenlist if he can get his transfer to Louisiana , but the "monitor" keeps telling him if he gets his Master Sargent rank he's going back to the grunts. After 5 combat tours 3 Purple Hearts and 16 years as a grunt , I'm thinking its time for him to get his E-8 and that transfer to a place where the commanding officer wants him to be
