I have to file this and all tax centers are closed. The IRS phones are automated and get me no where. The IRS website doesn't help much either. Any help is much appreciated.

CPT Swartout you will need to do a 1040X and a Schedule D or Corrected Schedule D. You willl need your original return as you have to enter original numbers onto the 1040X and the corrections. You also have to explain what caused the change(s). Keep it clear and simple. This is not the time for a dissertation. Plus you have to mail it in. Depending on you state, you may have to file an amended state return too.
