Good morning y'all,
I'm up for orders and I'm trying to get into HSC 28 but my detailer tells me ATO orders are pretty much out of the picture for ATI level. I'm hard working joined late in life so I work twice as hard and just picked up Junior Sailor of the year for my command. I'm not sure if anyone can help, but any insight would be great!! Thanks!

You really should just go by the Squadron and talk to the AT shop. if you cannot get a hold of anyone let me know. I am currently stationed there. Or just ask.

The way I have worked each transfer is by talking directly to the gaining command I was wanting. When I went from sea duty to shore duty, I talked with the instructors to figure out who was transferring around when I would arrive, then, when I spoke with the detailer I had the entire plan for why me going up there would work out well. Same thing I am doing now with getting my "C" school and sea duty follow-on orders setup. If you can convince the command you are the right person, as well as make the detailers job easy for why it works, then they are much more likely to work with you on getting the orders.
By no means will this guarantee it will work, but it can help the process.
