Hello everyone! I'm very new to this website and hope to receive support from this community regarding my first time trying to go on ADOS orders. I'm currently needing a Mos Waiver for the position of the requesting unit due to it being a different MOS. I've already been picked for the position, only issue is getting everything approved and in order.

My BN is requesting that I submit a Mos Waiver Memo, but I have no idea where to find such a memo. I've asked for an example template but have yet to receive a response in weeks, my unit has no idea on where to find such a memo and nor does the requesting unit. I'm wondering if you can help me with locating a MOS Mismatch waiver so that I can submit.

Like many waivers, there is no set format (if not stipulated by local policy) other than following the standard memorandum format*.

The position you're going to fill has a specific MOS because it was determined when they created the ADOS position that the roles and functions of that position could be met by someone with the skills, experience and knowledge of someone of the appropriate rank of that MOS.

For an MOS waiver, you need to show how you will be able to perform those roles and functions with your skills, experience and knowledge. For example, if the position you were going into was an 88M (truck driver), it would be hard for a 92W (water treatment specialist) to perform the requirements expected of that position. However, if you had your commercial driver's license and worked as a long-haul truck driver for the past five years, that would be justification to go into a waiver request.

Since you stated that this is a process of crossing the Is and dotting the Ts (you’ve already been preselected for the tour), your unit is looking to make sure all the items on the checklist or included. The approval authority for the ADOS position will sign off on any skill/MOS waiver (other waivers such as medical, etc. are likely out of their hands), so when your packet goes through MOBCOP, the items just need to be present in order for your packet to progress.

Thank you so much for this information! In all honesty do you by any chance have a MOS Waiver example that I may use as a cross reference? Or know anyone who might be able assist me with this? I've been asking around my unit and the ToD unit as well, but are unable to find any sort of example template. Researching online has proved to be a burden as well.

As I stated, there is no set format unless your unit or someone up the chain has dictated one (this is local policy). If you're not being told that you should use a specific format, then you do it in memorandum format and address the issues.

Again, a MOS waiver would be required if your MOS isn't what the position is calling for an explains why YOU meet the requirements of the job.

Here's one that provides a quick shell - you'll have to fill in the information because I can't do it for you.

The purpose of ADOS is to provide the necessary skilled manpower assets to support existing or emerging requirements. When the ADOS position was created, the person creating it determined whatever the support that position was going to do needed to be a certain rank/MOS.

You just need to explain why YOU can fulfill the requirements of the ADOS position - is it because you have the skills? Are the actual requirements of the job not tied to the Rank/MOS (they should have put it as an 00F position than, but many don't)?

Don't overthink it. Putting into a "civilian world" example, the company you're applying for said you have the job and they want to hire you, but you need to submit a resume so they have one on file. Of course, you don't want to give them a resume that has wrong info, but you don't need to twist yourself into knots developing it already. You have the job. Do the administrative requirement and move out.

Thank you again for this amazing information sir! I honestly was indeed overthinking on finding a specific format, when I could've just used the memorandum format like you mentioned. I appreciate the help!
