Im supposed to PCS there soon, I was just wondering if anyone is stationed there now or was there recently that can tell me the ins and outs of the unit, specifically maintenance personnel, I’m a 91B, what’s it like for a 91B in2nd SB?

I'd reach out to a sponsor as 2Sig is in Wiesbaden but you could end up just about anywhere in Europe. No matter where you end up I'd expect you towing on HMMWV that's used for commo gear.
There are two types of people who leave Europe, those that love it and those that hate it. If you ask those that hate it what they did you won't hear about much. Ask those who love Europe what they did and the stories will never stop. Get out, explore and have fun.

The signal bn I was in fell under 2nd SB for a short time before our deployment to Iraq in 09. 2SB seemed to be a good unit but everything is about signal. Ground equipment wasn't being utilized or maintained. Since I left signal I try to stick to combat arms units as a maintainer. It is way easier to get maintenance done in combat arms.

Not bad mouthing 2nd SB. Probably a great unit. It was just frustrating to get things done with maintainers that belong to the units. Signal, MP, Medical units are really the only units that have mechanics assigned to the units directly by MTOE. Everyone else has the mechanics in either HHC or in an FSC. It still puzzles me why these types of units have not modularized like the rest of the Army.

I’m old school and prejudice, so I would agree about the higher priorities with combat arms types. Poor maintenance yields deadlined vehicles/equipment, which means walking and/or not being able to complete the mission.

Not much for maintenance personnel in a strategic signal brigade. A lot of additional duties besides maintenance. Avoid all things signal as a mechanic. Im speaking from the 10 years I spent as part of NETCOM as a mechanic. Signal is great for signal personnel. As a maintainer in a signal unit, everything will be more important than performing maintenance.
