What do 25B study in AIT? Should I start studying if I have no IT background? And what they will eventually do in their job? It seems it’s very translatable to civilian jobs but is it hard or what field would it be?

For the first couple years you may just deal with IT Help desk work depending on where you work. Mostly dealing with layer 1 (physical) and application/operating system problems. You may also install new operating systems on workstations, re-image using Ghostcast servers/ Microsoft Deployment Tools, asset tracking, Information awareness tracking, and tactical network setup for that particular units system (TACLAN, CPOF, SDN systems, SNAPS, LINCE, and countless others).

You can specialize in networking/satellite communications/cable installation, IT management and others. Ultimately it depends on the unit your in and what their mission is.

If you want to get free developmental courses SKILLPORT is your best friend. Your unit may also fund you to go to COMPTIA/CISCO/Microsoft classes.

Let me know if you have any additional questions
