Anyone with experience as a patient with the Phoenix VA? Any good clinic docs and mental health docs?

interesting Question as that is one of the Key Facilities at the Heart of Many Investigations...

Very true. Though, since they started the investigations, one would hope they've changed in the past few years. My family and I are moving down there in about a year. I use the VA for all of my healthcare.

I have been seeing a Neurologist for about a year now. He and his staff are great. My VA is the one in Prescott but we are referred to PHX for some services.

I tried to get an appointment and was given a date 1.5 years out! That was about 5 years ago...Haven't tried going back since, so I don't know if it's any better.

Can't find an option to PM you. Did you go through EOD at Redstone? I went there when I reclassed to ammunition.

I can't figure out the PM setup either. I went through Eglin AFB in '05.

SSG Matthew Nechy - I found a local doc, and since I work for federal, my health insurance is tolerable.

In all seriousness, I'm hesitant to seek healthcare there. I'm hoping things have changed. Really looking for any advice on who to see, and, who not to see.
Come to milwaukee, I can give you one name right off the bat on who NOT to see.

Depending where you choose to live in Phoenix and surrounding areas, besides the main VA facility, there's one VA clinic in the NW valley in Surprise, AZ, there's another clinic away from the the main one as well. Also a brand new clinic opened near cities of Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa area. I go to the Surprise Clinic, it can get busy(not as busy as the Phoneix VA),as its near several retirement communities. I avoid going downtown main VA as much as possible.
Before you move, to transfer your care from one VA health care facility to another, contact your PACT. Your PACT will work with the Traveling Veteran Coordinator for assistance in transferring your care and establishing an appointment at the new facility.

I've been to the city of Surprise a couple of times now. Nice area.
We are looking at the Verrado area of Buckeye to move to.
Thanks for the PACT info, I hadn't even thought of that. SSG (Join to see) -

SSG Matthew Nechy - If you do move to the Verrado area, the VA opened a new clinic in the west valley in January:
Southwest VA Clinic
9250 W. Thomas Rd, 4th floor, Phoenix AZ 85037
[login to see]
Open 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
(From the Verrado area, just take the I-10 east to north on the 101 loop to Thomas Rd, adjacent to the Banner Estrella Hospital)
The VA clinic in Buckeye closed around 2013 due to some issues with building contract or something close to that, so this new clinic opened.
