I personally believe career politicians are bad for a country’s growth and progress. Look at our current Politicians who have made a career out of being elected, how often has their opinions changed over time. I believe career politicians breed corruption and progress stagnation in our country. I believe at a curtain point you stop caring about serving your communities and are purely concerned about what you need to do or say (what demographic do I need to please now to keep my seat) to remain in a position of power and financial gain. Career Politicians have been proven over the years to serve those who contribute major funds to their campaigns for re-election (private interest groups), more than trying to better serve the common citizens in their districts.

Wasn't the intention of the Founding Fathers for people to serve in public office for a short time and then return back to their private lives? Set up Term Limits for ALL politicians.

Power corrupts. And absolute power corrupts absolutely. The career politicians today are no longer serving the people. They are serving themselves. And they have had too much power for far too long.

My point exactly why career politicians are counter productive to how our country is meant to run. Your seeing the effects now with our career politicians in both parties having a tit for tat from the night our President was elected to now.

1LT (Join to see) - The truly sad part is that these corrupted career politicians have pulled the wool over the eyes of voters, hence why they keep getting re-elected. Even with all the kindergarten playground fights these "adults" are having, it is truly amazing....and sad....that the people still support them and would rather vote for the devil they know than the devil they don't know.

I agree, would love to see term limits, but the only way to get that is thru the career politicians, which they will never allow. Too much money in it for them.

Illinois is the prime example of that, I love my state but I hate my states legislature. Republican, Democrat, and Third Party, they all suck.

when the U.S. first formed a government it was considered an honor to serve as a representative and they only received travel compensation. Now it is basically an industry and it amazes me how many career politicians go into the Senate or the House not being millionaires and end up multi millionaires after twenty or so years.
