The Cold War was a contentious time for the world. The threat of nuclear war hung over the heads of billions of people and many thought a third World War would bring about an end to civilization as we know it. But it also sparked innovation like never before. We went to the moon. We built amazing things like the Internet during the Cold War and a lot of it was meant to combat the Communist threat. Of course, the McCarthy era wasn't great and Vietnam certainly wasn't a good selling point. That being said, is another Cold War with either Russia or China potentially good for America? After all, would we even have James Bond if not for the Soviet Union?

I feel that the old Cold War has become the New Great Game and is still in play as the Afghanistan - Russian conflict created Osama bin Laden and more recently the arming the al-Assad regime by Russia. Both of which have contributed to the current conflict. While the proliferation of communism has been curbed the war goes on over oil. The idea of a Cold War in itself is bad but the resolve of our nation has always impressed me Mr. Kantor.

Cold wars are not a good thing, but they are much better than 'hot' wars.
