I’ve people say it’s a good thing to have OSUT because the drill sergeants spend more time with the troops they’re training but then I’ve heard the other side as saying it’s not as good because the drill sergeants are softer on you than they would if it were separate. Would like to hear your thoughts?

92 series, 91 series I know are not OSUT. It really doesn’t matter if you have osut now anyway. You will go to AIT and have another Drill Sergeant. So you arnt really winning or losing. Other than the fact that the DS at basic are way more strict than the DS at AIT. It’s a culture shock in its own

No problem sergeant! But yeah drill sergeants are back in AIT , some company’s have stricter Drill Sergeants than other but Where I’m at. They are pretty laid back. They were platoon sergeants and just went to DS school for 2 weeks to earn the badge and hat then came back.SGT Mark Estes

I wasn’t sure if OSUT was common or not

So, let me clarify, Infantry, Armor, Artillery fall under the MCE and are OSUTs; this I know for a fact. Outside of that, I have heard before that MPs have an OSUT. Technical MOSs though do not. Your commo, medical, supply, etc go to designated AITs. I do believe that they reinserted Drills into those schools as well though.
