Are on-post fast food chains contradictory to what the military is stressing to service members about health and fitness?

As service members we are required to maintain a level of fitness and pass a fitness test. They stress the importance of remaining physically fit, eating well, and all around health yet every base you go to there's a Burger King or a Charles Cheese Steak, etc. Even the chow halls serve burgers, fries, fried chicken, etc. Do you think this contradictory to what the military is stressing to us service members about health and fitness?

SSG (Join to see) Is called freedom and personal choice. Even if you decided to close down all the fast food joints on a base and only served salads at the DFACS, Soldiers are allowed to leave base and eat anywhere they want. Nobody is forcing anyone to go have Bk every day and get fat, just like nobody is forcing anyone to become a vegetarian.

All you have to do is go to the shopette on a military installation to get a water after pt what do you find? The water is expensive but the soda cost less so what are economically challenged soldiers going to choose ? We are always hearing about how the military is having a huge issue with obesity, yet what do we see the stores gave almost nothing with nutritional value unless u go to the grocery stores which are out of the way, but there are plenty of fast food restaurants aroynd ! Some of these Soldiers are single so there may not be anyone to go shopping for them. I understand the free will idea, at the same time there is an element called strategy and retail companies strategically create this situation

When people get stressed and under duress their bodies shutdown and naturally start to store fats. even if there on very low calorie diet they will gain weight. So with that said , exercising to feel better or doing few things to make you happy and healthy eating a variety of foods would help. If weight gets out of hand try weight loss powders and more fish ,fruit vegetables.
Or if you have time off comming up for 2 weeks plus you could do it all then.

The Army makes enough "choices" for you. Enjoy the choices you have....even those which you choose not to participate.
