Is there any MFT's on here who can help me build a good PT foundation? I would like to improve my units PT program.

As much as this sounds weird, use the PRT manual. Trust me, it does work. Learn how to do all the exercises properly with the proper cadence. For example, study the PDs. Learn the exact order then learn each one by breaking it down and doing each one according to the manual. Once you have that, practice calling out each one (use a mirror if necessary). Once you KNOW each one, bring it all together and do an entire full set of PDs but do so one after the other after the other. That's how PRT is suppose to be done. This include all three CDs and the other exercises. If it is done properly, people will get a decent burn and you'll see improvements on PT scores.

Hooah. I downloaded the app and it's very helpful thanks for that. I'll try to build something similar to what you have on your phone.

You can also if you'd like get consults from a Personal trainer in town. Me and a few friends of mine have set up a workout routine using tips and exercises that we learned from a PT in town. We've got a group of about 10-12 people only work out twice a week for an hour and a half and have managed to build up our PFT (personal fitness test Navy) score by almost double what it was in a little under a year. As SSG says its also good to use the manuals. Don't just stick to ARMY though. Look at the AF NAVY and MARINES to get even more workout routines and exercises. Sometimes a combination of exercises and workouts from various sources helps out the best. Just depends on what your end goal is and how hard you want to work them.

this is some really good advice. I'll definitely look into the other branches and see what they are doing.

There's great input here and yes, do follow them. I have to brag here but reason for is because it is showing that it can be done! I actually got my Unit of a tad over 500 (Medical) to all get in shape and just about everyone including officer's pass the APFT. And no, there was no cheating. It took a lot of hard work on ALL of us and it took me just about a year. I was the only MFT as well. What I did was council and studied each of my soldier's chart's and put them on a training plan. Got them all off of soda too! I took my personal time and ran with them and worked out with them and whatever their weakest APFT was, we strengthened it. I mototivated them.....That's what a Unit really want's, they want PT to be structured but also have some fun in there somehow without it being "silly" and or non-military. Do whatever you can within reg.'s but do it. We were at war and I needed these soldiers fit both mentally and physically so you get kind of in this "I take this personally, and if any soldier fails then I fail". I was totally shocked that I would get an award for this as I did not do this for that. You worked hard for that title and being a MFT is not to be taken lightly so earn it by giving back to your soldier's and your Unit. Good luck and have fun as I did.
