I am in a tenant unit, not in a combat MOS. I would like to earn the Schützenschnur while i'm here but I don't know if it is offered at Campbell, and if it is what would be required to get a slot to for it?

Back in 2014 at Fort Campbell, my unit participated in the German marksmanship badge. It was an MTT in Illinois so we sent our guys there. Best bet, your unit can try to see if there is an MTT for it coming soon and try to get you a slot

Short answer, No, not likely. You are asking about getting a German Army Marksmanship Badge. That can only be awarded by a German unit, usually done as a partnership. If it is ever done in the US, it has to be done by a German unit that is working with US units...if nothing else, the shooting is done with German weapons. The 101 guys I know of, that got it while in the 101, did it during REFORGERs or other missions while in Germany.

I know that German units do come to the US, but that does not really change the correctness of your answer. I got mine from a German unit we trained with here in the US...but that was back when they were West Germans and we were training to fight their cousins to the East.
The one thing that I have always remembered, that really surprised me, was how poorly they handled their beer? They complained all night about how weak the beer was and spent all morning falling out of formation? Not a pretty site.

I got mine while stationed in (West) Germany with our partnership unit.
As far as the German required beer quota goes, I had the opposite experience. The unit XO was a Bavarian. When they brought out the keg, they had forgotten to pack the mallet. The XO proceeded to pound in the spike with a rock, then he proceeded to show us how much beer a big Bavarian can really down...he won (of course we didn't have a formation with them the next day either).

There would have to be a German partnership unit there to run the testing. Is there a local German unit?
