Are there any prior cadets that went through CDQC and were an end of camp commissionee that still received active duty and combat arms?

I am an MSIII currently and received the slot for CDQC. However, if I go then I will have to wait until the summer after my senior year to go to Advanced Camp. I will then be in a smaller pool for accessions and getting picked for active duty and combat arms.

While the Combat Diver badge is a cool badge and one of the most difficult schools in the Army (I wear a CDSup badge and was the XO in Key West) This is a Special Forces skill set you will likely never use in the Infantry or Armor. It is not worth setting your career back a year. I did not have to fight at all for a CDQC slot when I took my first team. Go on active duty, learn your basic leadership and combat skills and if you want, go to Selection and Assessment. I doubt you will have to fight for a slot to Scuba School. DOL

Where is your ROTC program if you are at one of the 6 senior military colleges. The question of active duty is already answered. Given by law they have to commission active if that is the commissionering cadets desire. As far as commission after advanced camp that will only move you down the selection process. I attended advanced camp after and didnt matter but then that was during 82-92 active. Branch selection is still based off needs of the army. I expected to get combat arms but got my first choice of signal corps. But still spent most of my time with combat units. Did two company commands first with FA as the S6 and second with SC. This was before branch detailing and after dual branching. Since the dive course is used in Army with SF. I am guessing you wanted the course to hedge your chances for SF. Pretty sure should help you to get a combat branch. But the needs of the army always come first. Good luck and congradulations on the school selection.

Thank you Sir for your feedback! I go to Olivet Nazarene University but we are a branch school of Wheaton College just west of Chicago.

Great on getting the slot- just how many O's are slotted there- promotion time, career advancement? Sounds nice but it might be a dead-end road for you.

I know there is less than 15 a year. I want to go Active duty Infantry or Armor and maybe branch detail into MI.
