I was looking at my genealogy and it said my Great Grandfather served in WWI but didn’t say what he did. I was hoping there were some records.

The more info you have, the better luck you'll have: full name, (first, middle last) date of birth, place of birth, date entered military and branch, service number, etc:

List of Related Series The National Personnel Records Center maintains 20th century U.S. military and civilian personal data series. This includes many collections related to military service in World War I that are a part of the Archival Programs Division within the National Archives at St. Louis.

Sometimes you can find them on ancestry sites. Try familysearch.org. I've found my great grandpa's WWI draft registration card on there. And it's free. Ancestry is ok but it costs. I think that's the only place you'll find any from WWI unless family has them somewhere.

not sure if it's nation wide but our state has put books together of most wars that list the vet his home of birth where and when he served and medals awarded. They did it by war era. My Legion post did have copies of WW2 Korea and Viet Nam. Suggest you check out a library and see if thats available in your state.
