Most of the stuff done by Pharoah Sanders, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane during the late Bop years (from about 1958-1970). This is a relatively mild track.

I'll be looking into them more. This was awesome. It reminds me of Pieces of a Dream.

SGT (Join to see) - Some of my favorite albums from the Bop era are: Miles Davis' 'Round About Midnight (1956) and Kind of Blue (1959) and John Coltrane's Live at Birdland (1964).

As somebody who was born in the 1950s and experienced the music explosion of the 1960s when raw talent was required to make music and drugs were experimented with abandon I learned a lot SGT (Join to see) . From inagodadavida by Iron Butterfly through Paranoid by Black Sabbath to Alice by Jefferson Airplane to Magic Carpet Ride and the Pusher by Steppenwolf we were introduced to all kinds of acid (LSD), amphetamines, angel dust, barbiturates, cocaine, fly agaric, magic mushrooms, meth, Opium and heroin, PCP, peyote, STP, THC and a host of other acronyms plus marijuana from africa, south and central america and southeast asia and the western pacific, and hashish from even more varieties with brand names such as nepalese temple balls, blond, etc. I have seen younger people rename drugs and rebrand them and learned that drug producers synthesize newer concoctions such as ecstasy. As Ecclesiastes states "There is nothing new under the sun."

SGT (Join to see) - smoking opium was big in the mid to late 1800s. You have probably heard of the Opium Wars which was when China was trying to reduce opium dependence and the colonial powers notably England fought to ensure that China would allow opium imports. Smoking opium and purchasing heroin in the country was generally legal until prohibition. Here are some images of products from the 19th century.

I have heard of the Opium Wars, thanks to Youtube, sir. That's scary stuff to think about.
