Are there other options for a SGT promotion board?

A Soldier believed to be functionally autistic struggles with the standard traditional promotion board. Are there any known options as a substitute for this or is the Soldier out of luck for advancement?g

Quoting past history, if the Solder has an issue with a promotion board then day-to-day work would also be an issue. If diagnosed as Autistic I would expect nothing less an Honorable under medical condition discharge. Don't see any more promotions either. Wondering how this soldier made it thru basic training and AIT? Semper Fi.

What is the Army's STEP program? What is the STEP program for? Even though I don't agree 100% with the "board," I currently do not have an alternative for the process. My last unit, the board was about "scenario based" not just Q & A. LIke my CSM used to say, bring me a solution to the problem, and we can discuss it.
