I dropped a SPC and CPL today because they thought they were buddies with a SGT. Would have dropped the SGT if he was around and didn't fix it. As long as there is one asshole to stand for the standards and make the corrections we can fix the problem.

I appreciate it CSM Charles Hayden, but I'm just doing my job.

An old CSM said to me, "SGT Buie, it's ok to be an asshole, as long as you're a positive asshole." What he meant by that was by making Soldiers do the right thing, regardless of how they feel. Soldiers don't always understand right away, but one day they will. Keep doing what you're doing SFC Bradshaw!
The problem today IMHO is that NCOs have become about self. They send soldiers to promotion boards for bullets on their NCOERs so that they look good. They do everything they can for themselves, maybe that soldier doesn't know his/her job but these days it doesn't much matter. What if they can fire a rifle and do PT then we should promote them. I get it we should be able to do those things but if you can't maintain the standards of your MOS then you shouldn't be to a board let alone even considered for promotion. If you can't do your job than how can you train others to do it. We as NCOs are to LEAD and TRAIN soldiers not just do what we can to make ourselves look good on paper.
We built the force from conscription once, we can do it again. The only problem I see is imposing a political test to keep leftists out. If we can't do that, it'll just happen again. It is one truth of the left.. unless they can be disposed of, one will eventually come behind you and destroy/steal everything you've ever built. They are the great poison of civilization. They horribly murdered 200 million people in the last century and still feel righteous.
