Are you a boss or a leader? Is there a time to be a little of both?

I'm a bossy leader :) no, but seriously, I'd like to think I resonate more with being a leader than a boss. The Marine Corps taught me well on how to be a leader. :)

A leader takes responsibility for subordinates failures. A boss blames subordinates for his or her failures.

I am proud to be a leader. Taught by great leaders coming up through the years/ranks, still learning every day from other great leaders, and teaching others to be great leaders. It is all cyclical. :)

Its a never ending learning process. Do you think you leadership style should change with the changing climate of the military?

My leadership style has changed immensely, Chief. I was Army first, so I was definitely more knife-handed in my younger NCO days. I stayed that way into the AF and pretty much until I was about to make Chief (E-9). A very wise CW5 (R) SOF bubba and most awesome friend guided me through some hard lessons.
Now as Chief, I am far happier to get my point across without having to come off the top rope. Lol. I deal with Joint SOF Senior Enlisted everyday. I get heard and there is no confusion in my message. No fuss, no muss. ((But, I always have the knifehand locked and ready to fire when needed... Lol)) :)
