Just watched Chris Wallace make Carson look like a fool on Fox News Sunday... He mumbled through what he would do about ISIS

Carson said that he would shoot down a Russian plane in Syria if in the no fly zone.
When asked what he would do if Russia then shot down one of ours... he mumbled... so Chris asked again and again... more mumbling...

Sounds like Ben would start WW III.

You have to suffer this fool for about 8.5 minutes to get to the no-fly zone part.

Capt Walter Miller - I would rather suffer through 8.5 minutes of Ben Carson than one minute more with Barack Obama. Our country has suffered for 6 years under his inept and corrupt "leadership" (what a joke).

Ben Carson makes no claim to be a military or foreign affairs expert. He has, however, stated that he would listen to and adhere to the advice of military and political/foreign affairs experts. That would be refreshing, since the current administration has no plan, shoots from the hip, and follows the advice of people with no real-world experience in anything but liberal policies and agitation, led by the community organizer in chief, who appears to hell-bent on destroying our country.

Is Ben Carson my choice for President? No... at least, not at the moment. I would certainly vote for him before I would vote for Hillary, however.

Over what exactly do you take issue with the president?

Capt Walter Miller - Neither you nor I have the time to answer that question. It would be much easier for me to say what I agree with him on. NOTHING...

Obviously, foreign policy is not Dr Carson's strong suit.

But for a fair, balanced view, I just watched President Obama make a statement and take a few questions in Turkey regarding ISIS and the attacks in Paris. That was a stew of "we are doing well" and "our strategy is working". Regarding Paris, it was "a setback".
It would seem that Dr Carson is not the only one who blunders about when discussing what to do about radical Islamic attacks.

I think what's important is the competition of our candidates bring out the best among all candidates. I think it is too early to tell to judge most candidates right now. Being a doctor, be certainly doesn't have the political experience others have had, so he will have to make up for it.

Walt, Why didn't you start a thread with "Is Clinton a complete idiot?" No, your goal is to bash those that espouse the conservative. I applaud your dislike for Clinton, but it would make you more palatable if your bias wasn't so blatant.

Are You Seriously For Ben Carson?

I like Dr. Ben Carson. I'm not so sure about President Ben Carson. Yes, he's a very intelligent man but intelligence isn't always a great attribute in a President. Nixon and Carter are about two of the most intelligent men to have served during my lifetime and both were seriously flawed leaders. Carson's commitment to relying on the advice of experts is a good idea. All Presidents should do that. However, we don't know who those "experts" might be. Maybe candidates should announce a slate of nominees for cabinet posts before they're elected so that voters can see who they're really getting.

What to do about Russian aircraft over Syria is a no brainer. Leave them alone.

Secondly - how could he not have a position on this issue? Before he went on fox news?

Unfortunately Dr. Carson is not the most articulate person. He suffers from an inability to articulate what he really wants to get out. He is a good and decent man. But I do not believe his presidential material. We need someone who has actual leadership experience and knows how to manage and run things to be our next president. The job of president is not one for people to learn on the job.

Jim Webb is the best candidate running for president -- by far.

Besides graduating from Annapolis at the top of his class, being first in his class of 243 lieutenants at the Basic School, being a platoon and company commander and winning a Navy Cross, Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts in Viet Nam, he was a committee general counsel, congressional staffer, official in the Defense Department, SecNav and senator, he is a NY Times best selling author, has the screenwriting credit for "Rules of Engagement" and he even has a bleeping EMMY.

But the thing that is so awesome is that he resigned as SeNav in protest of what the SecDef asked him to do. It blew me away at the time. Who does that? The story is that the SecDef Carlucci asked him to misrepresent facts to the Congress. He laid it on Carlucci at the time. Awesome. Specifically he was asked to misrepresent the usefulness of a new class of Navy warships.

Senator Webb also wrote the cleverly titled -Webb GI Bill."

If I were on active duty in the Combat Arms, I'd be giving every nickle I could to the guy.

He IS exploring a true independent run, and this may be the year for it.
