Good news is that if I was smart enough for the AF, then I would have been smart enough for the Marines...

If you were smart enough for the Marines then why didn't you? Personally, I didn't join the Military, I joined the Marines. There was NO consideration of other branches. Second generation.

We all have our reasons to serve. I followed in my family's footsteps by choosing the Air Force. Plus, I didn't want any boats or ships. No open seas for me, thank you!

Sgt Packy Flickinger, I went AF because both my mom and dad were Marines and told me to join the AF.

I believe the Army had the lowest requirements.

Armed Forces Requirements for Enlistments
Each of the services have their own minimum standards when it comes to Armed Forces Vocational Apptitude Battery (ASVAB score requirements, and education levels needed to qualify for enlistment.

MSgt (Join to see) and TSgt Joshua Copeland,
Alright Zoomies, I know you guys know that its all about meeting numbers to fill MOS's and for the most part they will continue to drop score requirements to meet enlistment requirements for certain MOS. And like anything, the more technical the MOS the less likely they are to drop the scores. Also, the Army is the largest service and thus must recruit a lot to meet their needs. Needless to stay, it is still harder to get accepted into the Army than it is to get accepted into College.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

LTC Paul Heinlein, I am actually curious of how much of a difference both in terms of "intelligence" and more so is sheer number of people qualified between the minimums of each branch.

It was a little different scoring when I took the test in 92. The minimum for the army then was 19, don't know the others.
I got over 4 1/2 times that. ;)

Well let's see being a Marine, and having a 100% score would indicate that those that do not obtain a 100% are not in fact smarter than a Marine.

The Marines - PBS Documentary (full length)
This is a well done and high-quality documentary on the United States Marine Corps. I posted it so people could view it without having to watch it in multipl...
Edited. I keep failing to post at the bottom of the thread.

If the Marines are anything like the Air Force, they have tons of smart folks and some real winners too :). God Bless the Marines.

If you are able to correctly click on the link, well then, you are certainly smarter than a Marine!

Jealousy of the Marine Corps is especially virulent in the Army; like the poor you have it with you always. What I understand about the Army is that soldiers make their loyalty to their Branch - Infantry, Armor, Arty, whatever. Loyalty to the institution of the Army itself is denigrated. That's "Big Army" and looked down upon. What this does is produce the opposite of esprit de corps. It is the main reason that despite some superficial differences, the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps are two very different institutions.

Obviously, I can't speak for all Soldiers, but my loyalty is to the Army first and then all of my brothers and sisters...regardless of branch of service.

I do believe that they used the easiest questions on the ASVAB for this one. Well, played, Recruiters.
However, this makes us all look like drooling idiots.

When I was seventeen an Army recruiter called me. He said he was taking a survey of high school seniors and their plans after graduation. I know now that this means that he hadn’t made quota so he was having to cold call a list. I didn’t know that then. But I said, “I am joining the Marine Corps as soon as I turn 18.” He said, “Shit buddy! We can make you a better deal than they can!” I went down to the post office building and talked to them, but I had no intention of joining the bleeping Army. I left their office and went around the corner to the Marine recruiters. Master Gunnery Sergeant Beatty was there. He was dressed in immaculate winter service bravos. And he had a swagger stick, which I thought was so cool. I think this is when he told me I could be a tanker, which, like everything a recruiter ever said, was a lie.

Nay, I am a mil brat, walked in knowing what I want, walked out with what I wanted. Rarely does an AF recruiter have to lie.

I remember my recruiter saying there was a girl behind every tree at Ft Riley, KS, and he was right. But I was hard pressed to find a tree...
