Area 51. We've all heard about it. Sooo, aliens aside, is the 'research' done there relevant? Or is this the most over-hyped conspiracy theorist landmark ever?

I used to read all the Area 51 conspiracy books when I was in High School. But now, like most conspiracy, no one is getting photos of whatever the particular conspiracy is, when we all have cameras in our pockets.
I believe they still do high tech research their, so the place is still relevant, just less alien.
