I think that's a great idea, what do you think?

SFC (Join to see) I really hope we solve this uniform issue, not sure why, but the marines certainly do an excellent job in picking the right uniform. Would be nice to go back to old school way in that everyone had the same type of combat uniform.

When we were discussing new uniforms my MSG asked me what the reason behind a uniform was. I answered uniformity. He explained to me that the purpose of the military's uniforms was camouflage (duh me!). Anyway, he went on to explain that if we found one that worked for one branch why wouldn't we all wear it. So, in short, I believe it is a great idea to use the Marine camo since it is already working for them.

I think the Army finally found a winner with the multicam. They should have just switched to the Marine Corps digital in the beginning though and saved tons of money. Navy has to get rid of that stupid blue camo uniform too

The Navy pattern was a waste of time and money.

The thing is, the Navy blue camo isn't meant to be used on a field uniform, it's for use on their dungaree replacements, for serious field use they have the 2 AORs. The purpose of the blue camo on their NWUs is (according to the Navy) to better hide dirt, paint, and grease stains and allow the sailor to go longer between cleanings.

It's almost a good idea - but it won't be the same. Don't forget that within the Marine Corps MARPAT camo, there are EGAs (Eagle, Globe and Anchor) scattered around, meaning that an entirely new pattern will need to be manufactured.

How come there are no Navy on here defending their silly water camo? LOL

Whenever the ACUs start to annoy me, I look up a picture of a Navy formation and I feel better. :)

At least until the next football game. <sigh>

CPT (Join to see) sir we all know that the blue camouflage was actually invented by an admiral's granddaughter, who thought she would look cool in them at the club... ahem... I mean, "they blend with paint chips". That said the Navy patterns for woodland and desert (NWU type 2 and 3 I think) are pretty good.
I still don't think many of the new patterns are actually better than the old 3 color desert or 5 color woodlands that were just fine until 2003.

While the blue digital on the Navy's NWU is a lousy camo pattern for the field it was never intended to be used in the field, it's meant to be used for ship board use and the pattern and color choice is to help hide paint and grease stains. UCP, on the other hand, was actually designed to be used out in the field and we all know how well UCP blends out in the field.

I have no problems with this if they let the Soldiers role their sleeves up like Marines.

We just had a Mandatory Town Hall meeting here at Fort Jackson not even 10 days ago and the advisor to the chairman of the joint chief of staff Marine Corps CSM Bryan Battaglia was there talking to us about the upcoming changes to the military.

Well he was asked this question specifically and he said that there is not going to be any changes to uniform that he sees not for awhile.  The main conversation talked about Army 2020 and how the force is changing... so if I were you I would just plan on staying in ACUS for awhile.

I don't think that the Army is getting rid of the ACU any time soon, the only thing that's happening is that instead of UCP, the new ACUs will be in OCP but it's essentially the same ACU otherwise.

While  serving on an ETT in Afghanistan in 08 I was on a joint team and our Marine counterparts were much better suited for the terrain while we were there.  The Marine print is a lot more effective for all terrains that we work in  either desert print or woodland.  I would vote for (if allowed to) it in a heartbeat.

Might be a little biased but it is the best available. And yes we will take out the Eagle Globe & Anchor for you.

Nothing against the EGA. It represents the USMC well. As long as we do not have to represent it and we can go back to rolled sleeves in garrison environment!

Honestly, if we go to a single DoD pattern, my guess would be MultiCam.
