Battle Staff was a great course. Challenging as well as valuable to the career. Highly recommended.

The first thing you should do is check your career map and make sure you are in the position your rank require. I know people don't like to volunteer but volunteering for sharp, EO, or any other assignment out there that you can take will put you ahead of your peers also you can take any certification specifically for your MOS this will put you in a position that you will get promoted in your first look

I hope he/she did because that's the way to go. Been ready, prepare for anything way ahead of your time it always pays off, it's always good to get ready for to ranks over your current rank, I got my eyes on SGM rank that's my focus at the moment

CSM Charles Hayden, there is actually a formal career map now. It's found in DA PAM 600-25, and it lists all of the opportunities for advancement that a Soldier in a particular MOS should be focused on at each stage of his/her career. However, this thread is great too!

I second this, as a soft skill with a Ranger tab you don't know how much better Im looked at than my peers! Specially for your E7 board...

Have you looked on COOL? There are professional certifications for logistics that will not only set you apart militarily, but also be very valuable on the civilian side.

Aside from ensuring you take care of your soldiers and do your job which will enhance the bullets on your NCOER check out DA Pam 600-25. Its lays out what to do for your MOS at what point in your career for ideal progression.

The career map on AKO is shaky for certain MOS's and is only loosely based off of 600-25 .
