They are made up of stuff you probably really don't want to know about. My advice, hot sauce. Lots and lots of hot sauce. And some gaviscon for later.

I think it depends on the menu. Menu #15 lists options for Italian sausage as well as meatballs.

Probably made of sadness and young soldiers' hopes and dreams. Me personally, I've loved MREs since we spent weeks eating them during Exercises, probably because I can't cook and they're a vast improvement, but man, 3 MREs a day for weeks on end, and you have to schedule range days to use the latrine. It's an adventure still, for all you old salts.

What are you all Crying about the MRE's of today are great compared to 30 years ago! You had a dehydrated beef patty mmmm tasty. If you were lucky you got the pork patty lol at least you could chew it. The beef stew was inedible the peanut butter nasty the cheese just as bad. But you ate it you had no choice. The heat source to cook with was your Crackers. Don't get me started on the cookies if you could eat them you were doing good. The only good thing was the dehydrated fruit cocktail square. They have come along way since then.
