Army Service Uniform: What sources cover supply's issuance of a memorandum to receive two pairs of striped trousers from Clothing and Sales?

One of the sew shops here in Junction City, KS told me that I shouldn't be paying for my own NCO Striped ASU Trousers and listed off some AR's and other information that I recently had forgotten. What sources cover supply's issuance of a memorandum to recieve two pairs of Striped Trousers from Clothing and sales?

The term your looking for is "Supplemental Issue." Get with your 1SG, and also ask the clothing and sales clerk here on riley for a supplemental issue form. You fill it out, command signs it, it goes back to C&S and your new things are paid for at no cost to you (and basic alterations). I just did one for a CPL we promoted last month.

The regulation that covers clothing is CTA 50-970. You have to look at the appropriate tables to verify authorized clothing/equipment..

If you research AR 670-1 you will find that a change to the uniform ie: BDU to ACU you receive a one time issue. After that any thing else other than combat loss is on you to use your Clothing Allowance. Nothing is free. Someone's going to pay.

Do you really want "Standard Issue" dress uniform items?
When I looked for ASUs, I did my research. I went to Clothing Sales and looked at what was on the racks. The fabric looked ratty and cheap. I went to different Clothing Sales stores at different posts-- they all had the same cheap looking stuff. So then I looked online and found Marlow White. They are sort of the "industry standard" in military uniforms. They have three levels of fabric quality. The colors of the braid is also authentic to the US Army Institute of Heraldry. Look on their website. I chose the intermediate ("Professional") level of quality. I got the jacket, pants, rank insignia, belt, brass, overseas and service stripes, shirt, and tie for around $400. I really like the quality of their uniforms, much more than the AAFES off-the-rack stuff. When I was stationed at Fort Leavenworth, I visited their store several times to get new items (like a service cap). Their customer service is great in person too.
So bottom line, spend the money and get a BETTER quality uniform. Take some pride in your appearance and don't "cheap out" on what makes first impressions. Good Luck!

This would be covered under the reason you are given a yearly clothing allowance. Some units will issue them, but there are typically special reasons and this is a per unit thing. In your case, you just need to step up and use your clothing allowance to obtain your updated uniform.

You get a "supplemental issue" because the NCO clothing bag is different then the enlisted clothing bag. Clothing allowance is for replacement/refurbishment, not buying new items.

SGT (Join to see) Unless you get them issued in a school(example Recruiting/DS/AIT PSG) where they will issue the uniform and make the necessary alterations and sewing, you have to pay for it yourself.

I had to pay for my ASUs out of pocket. When I reclassed I needed a dress uniform. I tried to get one from my unit and they cried "No money" for ASUs but they could get me greens (which at that point were being phased out in less than a year). In the end I bit the bullet and purchased the ASUs.

I'd check with clothing issue, and see what they have to say, or talk to the supply sergeant.

we always had 2 sets of Class A's or what ever you call them Now...
One was Light weight and the other was heavy weight...
the Only thing you should have to pay for is the rank chevrons and the service stripes ... but what do i know...
