I Love my Air Force brothers and sisters and the way the can quickly gain control of any airspace any where in the world; you guys ROCK! But we Army folks deseratly need the A-10's close air support ability exponentially more than you need another fast, sexy, tech stuffed, expensive jet.
I have a simple solution to the decades long debate; instead of getting ride of the A-10; lets get ride of the restriction of the US Army owening/operating tacticle fixed wing. Let us at least examine the idea in congress and explore reducing the restriction to allow close air support fixed wing for the Army.
Here is an intersting article on the USAF once again trying to ride us of one of the least expensive and most effective tool in the USAF inventory.
What is your opinion of the A-10 and the posibility of transfering the authority of close air support fixed wing to the Army inventory?

As I have said on other threads, & I'm sure Capt Christopher Mueller can agree, I think this whole campaign to replace the Hawg w/ a quagmire of a jet is someone trying to get a feather in their cap for promotion. It just doesn't make sense!!!

I know several pilots in the reserve/guard components that would love to have more Hawgs at Whiteman!!!

I would like to begin by saying that transferring these beasts to the Army is a genius idea. I hear a lot of complaints all of the time and very often nobody offers solutions to the problems, just complaints. I am a strong supporter of the A10s and believe that anything that we can do to keep them in our arsenal would make us that much stronger as a country.

I worked at 5:00 show Republic for 15 years and help build over 700 of the a10s it was the Rock solid aircraft they should have bought more but the Air Force didn't like it cuz they didn't go supersonic great ground support aircraft I'm proud to say that I help build them
