The article is lengthy but hits the nail right on the head.

Makes the argument to not return to Iraq because we know, what the hordes of Internet Isis hunters don't, that the leash will be kept tight on our throats during operations.

"We are too concerned about the perception of the rest of the world and the opinions of the fat, lazy public at home"

Give it a read if you wish.

"We are too concerned about the perception of the rest of the world and the opinions of the fat, lazy public at home"....that is so true.

We have to be all in or nothing, terminate with extreme prejudice. But there is no spine in D.C. War is dirty, ugly, nasty, deadly, and horrifying. It's not a video game, there is no reset button. The American public is incredibly disconnected and spoiled.

Not until all Syrian men age 16 and older are return to Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan , let them fight for their own freedom and fight for their own country BEFORE any Americans go there to fight , I will NOT support , I will NOT. Defend ,I will NOT. Help any coward who will not fight for his or her own freedom , SYRIAN. Men are cowards. We don't need them here , we have enough of our own

Hard to fight someone armed with weapons when you only have stones. Our country didn't win its independence without foreign aid.

These Syrian men are and can be armed. They choose not to fight Capt. Glover , Sir. They run like cowards. Even if they had weapons they would do the same as the South Vietnamese " brand new rifle , never fired and only dropped once ". But from experience. Send these cowards back and tell them to fight or die. Give them support and weapons. Who knows. Maybe they will get a pair and fight

The $64,000 question is are we going to be decisively engaged.
The answer is no, so long as we are not attacked directly and the current administration is in office.
What we have in the meantime is this... mess.
It'll be interesting to see what comes out of the President meeting with French President Hollande today. My guess is some blah, blah about strong partnerships and information sharing.

SPC (Join to see) I like the sentiment and agree - Don't send ground troops unless the ROE allow engagement as necessary to accomplish the mission. Sadly we can all argue about what that means.
We need something between, total occupation and totally ignore, perhaps after trying everything else, we will settle on a strategy of in-between and get American's to commit more than their thoughts.

If you are going to send our sons and daughters (and family, in general, to die for our country, stop with the idiotic ROEs. The idea that we will not engage if a single theoretical civilian is in the area, while exposing our people, drives me up the wall. I'm surprised that this administration doesn't do as LBJ and McNamara did and warn them. Approximately 75% of our sorties come home fully loaded because they can't get approval to drop their payload. DUMB!

MCPO Roger Collins Amen, it is interesting how France can hit targets we can't. Hmmm perhaps ROE do matter!

Best thing I've read all day.

America's political parties have ruined the land of the free. Now a days it's "less action, more talk".
