Yes, you do. It will be based on your Home of Record (HOR). When you in-process for your deployment, your finance folks will (should) sort that out.

MAJ (Join to see) I may have to put everything in a leased storage unit since I live on my own and have no place to putilize it. Leasing a storage unit for my items and car cost almost as much as a rental unit here.

Leased storage won't qualify you for BAH. It may be claimed as a travel expense, but limited to actual costs incurred rather than the BAH rate.

SGT K G - Recent change, now they realize that Soldiers need to pay for housing regardless of their dependent status.

Absolutely do.
By the way I got a downvote last time I stated that I wouldn't be able to afford to be in the Guard otherwise.

SSgt (Join to see) and SGT(P) (Join to see) I'm graduating from my college and am trying to figure out the best way to take care of this because I'm currentlying leasing, but I was thinking about moving into 2 storage units while I'm gone since none of my family members have space for me and I'm pretty much on my own. But they're super expensive and it's not like I can chuck everything/leave my car randomly. Do you know if they cover storage unit leases?

It should be reimbursed on your travel voucher. Maybe not the full amount, but some.

SGT K G You should, but when you do your pre-deployment training and SRP, there will be a finance brief that covers all your entitlements.

Yes you will receive BAH based off your zip code that you have home of record set as

You are considered total active duty while deployed in red AGR Status too. You really oaids Base pay, BAQ, VHA, some may even get combat pay. Check with your state headquarters or DFAS. Company clerk too can offer help.

Yes, although I would point out that no matter what, the location used is your HOR as issued on the date of your orders. The upshot of that basically is that if your spouse decides to live with mom in Manhattan instead of Knoxville, TN, you still get the BAH for Knoxville and are not entitled to the higher rate (and COLA) for New York City.
A lot of troops try to game this, but it won't work.

SGT K G, a lot of single Soldiers put their stuff in storage over a deployment in order to save money. USERRA allows you to break a lease for a deployment, and you might want to consider that course of action. It is probably more secure than leaving your stuff in an unoccupied home or apartment for a year, and definitely less expensive.
Good luck, wherever you are headed.

1SG (Join to see) Does BAH cover this or no? (I'm trying to be proactive so that I'm not scrambling.)

SGT K G, I believe there is a separate entitlement for storage of household goods, but if you maintained the residence on the day you mobilize, you would continue to receive BAH regardless.
