Being deferred on a VA claim should you take that as good or bad news? Are the chance greater for approval or less ?

There is a possibility that there is a need for a more thorough look see. They are just trying to make sure that they are doing the right thing for the veteran.

I just got a defer on hearing loss. Of all my claims I thought that one was a shoe in. My last hearing exam in the Army they had me take it three times because it was so far off from the previous baseline they had. After filing the claim I went for a hearing exam at the VA and was told I qualify for hearing aides. My claim was deferred. Can't figure that one out.

I got a deferred on a documented lower back and cervical spine claim , I have the original Air Force injury reports . Does that mean the claims are over, they are still working on them? Do I need to appeal the deferment? Anyone know the process to the deferment?

LTC (Join to see) - I also got a " No service connection" for hearing, which I thought was laughable since I've worked on F-15's for 33 years. Reading, I think I may have sent too many audio results in and inundated the rater. I'm going through and appeal, sending my original, the Air Force ones from way back when the state I already had hearing loss and my most current "End of Service" audiogram. I'm at a loss for a none rating....I expected a 0 rating but not a non-rating.

SMSgt (Join to see) - Here is information about deferred claims:

The “Other Rating Decisions” Issued by the VA - Hill & Ponton, P.A.
Think of a deferred rating decision as meaning a claim needs more evidence while a confirmed and continued rating decision means a claim needs different evidence.

it really means that they are unable or unwilling to render a decision with the information that they now have.it can later be approved or denied as they get the info
