Besides actual military ruck marches, what kind of ruck marches/events have you participated in and what are your thoughts about the them?

Two years ago I organized a team mostly consisting of members in my squad and did the 31 Miles for 31 Heroes that raises money/awareness to support the surviving families of the 31 lives lost in Extortion 17 and provides funds towards the treatment of TBI/PTSD. The ruck took place overnight and honestly was one of the toughest I've done (at least mile wise) but the best part was at sunrise we finished at the gravesite in Arlington commemorating the lives lost.

That rocks! Well done! It's so encouraging to see the Veteran community take care and honor our own!

I also did the BAA Tough Ruck in 2017. I thought the course was great and made it manageable for a wide variety of individuals to participate. There was a good mix of civilians, service members and veterans. I highly recommend it to anyone.

I recently participated in the Tough Ruck sponsored by the Boston Marathon. It is a full 26.2 mile marathon ruck, mostly flat ground, that raises money for the family members of fallen military. I participated with my wife and some friends but there were many current and former military members participating as we walked through the Minute Man National Forest. It was a great time and we raised something like $500,000 for the families. And it was a great date weekend with just my wife and I sans children.
I would recommend it to those interested in doing some civilian rucking for a good cause.

Tough Ruck mirrors Boston Marathon, honors fallen Servicemembers
Tough Ruck is group of military and civilians whose sole purpose is to ruck in honor and in memory of our fallen service members, police, firefighters and EMTs, while raising funds to support military families in times of need.

That sounds like a great event. That's a long ruck too. Do you know how many participants there were? That's a significant amount that was donated. Great work!

SFC (Join to see) - I think we have right around 1,000 participants. Not all finished but I was surprised how many did the entire distance. Since it wasn't a forced march, we walked at our own pace so it was just a nice walk through the woods.

SFC (Join to see) - I did it last year. They changed the fundraising requirements so I believe there were less participants this year but they ended up raising more money.
