Some military movies got overlooked in the recognition department. I liked "The Siege of Firebase Gloria"-just because R. Lee Ermey rocked it with his one-liners! What other less-known tasty military nuggets are out there, possibly undiscovered?

Platoon, great movie, not sure I can ever watch it again, i was in the BN from the movie, 3rd bat 22nd inf, though I was in C co, not B co used, got to the unit literally the month it came out on VHS, and I swear we watched it every 2 to 3 days for months, total worship, glad we only had plants in training, several of the worst inter unit crap played out on a lesser level

Attack Force Z (Mel Gibson, Sam Neil)
We Were Soldiers (Mel Gibson, Sam Elliot)
and for my cheesy selection Starship Troopers "This is for all you new people. I have only one rule. Everybody fights, no one quits. If you don't do your job, I'll kill you myself! Welcome to the Roughnecks!"

I think that you could have a movie with 59 minutes of the camera focused on a rock, 1 minute of Apaches blowing stuff up and people would watch it. Apaches blowing stuff up seems.... so.... American. MERICA!

Hard to watch at points, but worth it as a revelation to the other side of bravery. Those who are brave because they do not want to be brave. Just watch it to see.
