Yes, you can have braces in any service, but you are non deployable for the entire time you have them

I’ve known a few friends in the military who managed to get braces while serving. They mentioned it could make you non-deployable until the treatment is complete, which can be a drawback if you’re in a deployment-heavy role. Others I know have waited until after their service to sort out dental work like braces to avoid any restrictions.
If you’re considering dental work or need guidance on options, you might want to check out https://goodlife-clinic.com/ for their dental care services. Their focus on patient satisfaction and advanced techniques sounds like a great choice.

I saw quite a few Marines end up with braces while I was in. It was generally SNCOs who were careerists though. I also saw a lot of folks getting permanents as well. I also know of a few folks who were released at Boot Camp because their teeth and gums were so bad the Navy Dentists basically said it would take too much to fix their situation.

I was in a TRADOC unit at FT Gordon in 89 and was not permitted to get them because my teeth weren't bad enough and there was always a chance of deployment. I only wanted the gap in my front teeth closed up so the dentist came up with a compromise.
