Building a better ruckpack. What are your recommendations for long distance and competition ruck systems?

The Air Force typically doesn’t do rucking so I wanted to put this question to those with the experience of what to look for.
I recently attempted Rainier’s Wonderland Trail this December with a few buddies and for lack of a better term I need a better pack. I’ve run with the Army Alice and Molle packs before and they’ve worked fine, but I’d like to ask on any recommendations you might have for other packs outside of these or the sturdier civilian hiking ones like my BMG 105L for marathon/ultra-marathon distances that I could interchange between military and civilian roles?
In addition, I might be asking for two separate things, but I’m also looking for a better pack for competition events. I typically run my AF Sandpiper 3-day pack or a camelbak for events. Is there something you’d recommend for competitions like Bataan and Nijmegen that can go the distance and be the best for the job?
